THE MUSEUM OF SOLUTRÉ

the museum of Solutré displays the findings of one of the richest prehistoric sites in Europe: for more than 25 000 years men from the late paleolithic – from 35 000 to 10 000 B.C – came there to hunt and cut up

thousands of horses and reindeers. An impressive quantity of bones can still be found in that place, hence the origin of the famous legend – which has been denied since – saying that hunters used to hurl horses down from the top of the rock.
