Nose : very satisfying. The 2001 vintage displays an aromatic intensity full of fruit ( fresh pear, pippin apple ) and flowers ( white flowers, acacia ) which will gradually turn to mineral and dry flower.

Palate : round and pleasantly crisp, the 2001 vintage lacks neither body nor power thanks to the rich musts that were used in its making. If you lay it down for 2 or 3 years you will notice mineral, candied fruit or honey undertones as well as elegant hints of roasted dried fruit.

In the year 2000 the Saône et Loire département enjoyed :
  o a mild winter allowing early disbudding of the vine.
  o a mild spring in May and June, which helped the vine to grow and flower
  o followed by warm and sunny weather in August and September.

In September, the grape ripening was encouraged by the earlier climatic conditions and by July ‘s heavy rainfall.
For the Chardonnay grape, the 2000 vintage was made from ripe to very ripe grapes, with musts showing a potential alcohol of 12°to 13°. Acidity is satisfying.

These particular conditions gave rise to wines whose essential characteristics are :

- a powerful nose with fruity and floral aromas of pear, citrus fruit, quince, candied fruit, ripe fruit and white flowers, which will mature into mineral and honey aromas.

- a soft palate, ample and well structured, because of the richness of the original must. These wines can be kept for 2 to 3 years, then mineral, honey and hazelnut flavours will develop.

To conclude,the 2000 vintage can be drunk now or over the next few years.
