A preference for Chardonnay
It is not by chance that Chardonnay
has been the only grape-variety planted and grown in the
Saint Véran appellation zone since time immemorial.
Chardonnay is called after an old Gallic village of the Mâconnais
region, CARDONACUM, which means "a
place full of thistles". Our vinegrowers’ ancestors
had discovered that Chardonnay thrives in such soils.
That is why the Cru Saint Véran is the fruit of
one of the best noble varieties of France, whose favorite terroir
is naturally Burgundy.
