The cru Saint Véran was born thanks to the determination of three men, Louis Dailly, Georges Chagny, and Louis Orizet, who were soon joined in their task by a number of winegrowers from villages whose names will be attached to the appellation when it is created… much later.
Let’s go back to the beginning : Louis Dailly and Georges Chagny were both winegrowers, from Saint Amour and Leynes.
After being the instigator of the Saint Amour appellation, Louis Dailly devoted himself to the creation of the Saint Véran appellation because he was convinced that a number of Beaujolais and Mâconnais villages should join together under one single AOC appellation, due to the quality, individuality and consistency of their "terroir".
